A formula for transformation and thus strategic success
We are facing a time of upheaval in which we will reverse part of 175 years of industrialization - especially the part that concerns the nature of human work.
Digitalization and artificial intelligence will eliminate more and more repetitive tasks, changing the nature and location of work.
At the same time, the ability to innovate and differentiate is becoming increasingly important.
These success factors can best be achieved through the targeted deployment of suitable talent.
Corporate strategy must therefore focus on the experiences it offers employees and customers.
The "Habitat", i.e. the living environment, has a significant influence on how people feel and work. Great added value can be created for teams, departments or entire companies by consciously and purposefully designing the habitat.
To do this, it is important to know what behavior ("Habitus") is expected. The corporate strategy should be translated into successful behavioral patterns and motivators and transferred to the design of the working environment. This results in a simple formula for the strategic success drivers "corporate architecture":
Corporate success = Strategy x Habitus x Habitat
This formula has proven itself in my 20 years of transformation work and has finally been internalized by many company managers during the pandemic. However, it is complex to develop and implement changes from a retrospective perspective, as people find it difficult to adapt to a new habitat and a new habitus. This is why a realignment of leadership and accompanying change management are necessary in order to develop a "change-the-business" project into a "run-the-business" standard.
